Quarter System Schedule
Crestview Preparatory operates on a 4 quarter(block) system
Class periods are 85 minutes in length Monday through Thursday and 65 minutes on Friday. The Monday through Thursday classes allow students to receive more one on one help and attention by teachers during class time.
Students earn .5 credits for each course passed. Crestview students have the options of taking extra classes during the year to accrue more credits.
The scheduling of extra classes may allow a student to graduate early or allow a student to capture credits that were not earned during a previous year of high school.
Two scheduling options are available. Option A is the required schedule, while Option B details the effects of taking extra courses during a school year:
Option A
4 Classes = 2.0 Credits
4 Quarters X 2.0 Credits = 8.0 Credits in a school year
Option B
5 Classes = 2.5 Credits
4 Quarters X 2.5 Credits = 10.0 Credits in a school year
Students may choose to use Option A and add community service and work experience to increase the total number of credits earned without taking a 5th period class. Community service and work experience opportunities must be approved by an administrator.
5th period classes are limited in number and limited in subject area. Elective coursework is primarily scheduled during the 5th period.
Students involved in off campus dual enrollment programs outside the normal school day would also be able to earn additional credits toward graduation.

Extra Study Time for Students
Tutoring and study hall sessions will be scheduled during the school year in the mornings prior to classes and in the afternoons at the end of classes. The tutoring schedule will be released prior to the start of the school year.
Students may enroll in a schedule that begins at the second period, but the student and parents must get administrative approval for that type of schedule option. A student's academic needs may prevent them from being scheduled in that option.
